About Me

My design back ground is in Textiles and Surface Pattern Design but it was during my MA in Multi Disciplinary Print Making at U.W.E that I was introduced to the Art of Enamelling. During this time i began experimenting with contemporary enamelling techniques incorporating various print procedures. Soon after completing my Masters I had a little girl called Eve Florence, so things were put on hold for a while...well 3 years to be precise. Last year i was awarded an Arts Council of Wales Project grant which has enabled me to further investigate this medium. I am now the proud owner of a lovely enamel kiln. The results and experiments of which will be posted on this blog!

As the crow flies, brooch.

This printed map design on a pre cut copper bird is one of my experiments using digitally produced transfers from my own images. I have a fascination with old postcards (pre 1940), maps, and hand written text.
The content of the written card allows a glimpse into the thoughts and feelings of an individual from a bygone age, often revealing a small piece of domestic, romantic or personal social history. The postcard was the equalivant of modern email or text but yet seems to carry more meaning, probably from the character of the hand written word and the evidence of it's journey through time, the stamp and franking, all add to its authenticity as a document from the past.
